Hi all,
I am a mature student, who is taking a levels as a private candidate,
so I don't have a teacher to guide me.
I need some help in the following areas, because I am confused by this
whole new system of a levels.

If I wanted to could I take all the modules for an alevel, all 6
modules, and if after I receive my grades and I have done poorly in
two modules could I resit just those two modules and keep the marks of
my other 4 modules, and then if I am happy with the marks I get for
the two modules I resat could I then cash in my a level?

Or does it work like this: Whenever a student takes all 6 modules he
automatically gets a grade.

Also, how many times can i resit a module? Does it depend on the
examining board and the subject you take, because AQA Sociology
modules can be retaken an unlimited number of times whereas AQA
Psychology modules may only be retaken once.

Thanks for any info.

You can resit any or all modules any number of times, until they change
the specification (=syllabus), in which case they would give you plenty
of warning.

Only if the exam officer entering you submits the appropriate aggregation
code (which would in fact normally be the case) - but you can then
decline that grade if you don't like it and resit whichever modules you
like in order to improve your overall mark total.

No: all exam boards have to follow the same guidelines and rules: any AS
or A2 module can be sat an unlimited number of times.
